Shipping Policy
Last Updated: October 19, 2026
1. Order Processing
We strive to process and dispatch all orders as quickly as possible. Most in-stock items are processed and prepared for shipment within 1 to 2 business days (Monday through Friday, excluding holidays).
Once your order is processed, you will receive a confirmation email with tracking information. Please note that for large freight items (like engines and transmissions), it may take an additional 24-48 hours to securely palletize and strap the item before the freight carrier picks it up.
2. Freight Shipping (Engines & Transmissions)
Due to the size and weight of automotive engines and transmissions, these items are shipped via LTL (Less Than Truckload) Freight Carriers, not standard parcel services like UPS or FedEx.
- Curbside Delivery: Standard freight shipping is curbside delivery. The driver will lower the pallet to the ground at the end of your driveway or at the street curb. The driver is not required to move the item into your garage, shop, or up a steep driveway.
- Residential vs. Commercial: Please ensure you provide the correct address type at checkout. If you are shipping to a residential address, please note that an appointment may be required to schedule delivery.
3. Delivery & Mandatory Inspection
You MUST inspect the shipment before signing the delivery receipt. This is the most critical step when receiving a freight item.
- Check the pallet and the engine for any visible signs of damage (cracked valve covers, broken sensors, crushed oil pans, or missing parts).
- If the item is damaged, you must note the damage on the delivery receipt (e.g., "Engine damaged, pallet crushed") before signing.
- If the damage is severe, you have the right to refuse the shipment. If you sign the receipt "clean" (without noting damage) and later discover the engine was crushed in transit, the freight carrier will deny the claim, and we may not be able to offer a refund or replacement.
4. Liftgate Service
Engines and transmissions are heavy (often 400-600+ lbs). If you do not have a loading dock or a forklift at your delivery address, you must select "Liftgate Service" at checkout (or contact us before shipping).
A liftgate is a mechanical platform on the back of the truck that lowers the item to the ground. If you do not request a liftgate and the driver cannot unload the item, the shipment will be returned to the terminal, and you will be responsible for re-delivery fees.
5. Estimated Transit Times
Once the item leaves our facility, transit times vary based on your location:
- West Coast: 2 - 4 business days
- Midwest: 3 - 5 business days
- East Coast: 4 - 7 business days
Please note these are estimates provided by the carriers. Weather delays, carrier terminal backlogs, or mechanical issues with the truck can extend these times.
6. Damages & Lost Items
If your item is lost in transit, please contact us immediately so we can open an investigation with the freight carrier. If your item arrives damaged but you failed to note it on the delivery receipt, please take photos of the damage and the packaging and contact us within 24 hours. We will do our best to assist, but resolution may depend on the carrier's claim approval.
7. International Shipping
Currently, we only ship within the contiguous United States. We do not ship engines or heavy freight to Alaska, Hawaii, or international destinations. If you are an international buyer, please contact us at info@autofitmotors.com to discuss specialized freight forwarding options, though we cannot guarantee availability.
