Frequently Asked Questions
Find quick answers about engine fitment, freight shipping, returns, and warranty coverage.
Fitment & Compatibility
How do I know if an engine will fit my car?
The most reliable way to ensure fitment is to match the engine code (e.g., BFB, OM651, 1ZZ) to your vehicle's existing engine. We include the engine code in every listing. If you are doing an engine swap, you or your mechanic are responsible for verifying the compatibility of the mounts, wiring harness, and ECU.
Can I swap a JDM engine into my US-spec car?
Yes, but it often requires additional parts. JDM engines may not have the same emissions equipment, wiring harnesses, or accessories as US-spec engines. We always recommend consulting a certified mechanic before purchasing a JDM engine for a US-spec vehicle.
Shipping & Delivery
How are engines shipped?
Engines and transmissions are shipped via LTL freight carriers on a heavy-duty pallet, strapped and shrink-wrapped for protection. They are delivered to the curb (curbside delivery).
Do I need a liftgate?
If you are shipping to a residential address or a shop without a forklift or loading dock, you must select liftgate service. The driver cannot unload a 500+ lb engine without a liftgate.
What happens if the engine arrives damaged?
You MUST inspect the freight before signing the delivery receipt. If the pallet is crushed or the engine is visibly damaged, note the damage on the receipt and refuse the shipment. If you sign "clean" and later find damage, the freight carrier will deny the claim.
Returns & Warranty
Can I return an engine if it doesn't fit?
You may return an uninstalled engine within 30 days for a refund, minus a 20% restocking fee and return shipping costs. The engine must not have been installed, had fluids added, or been disassembled.
Do you cover labor costs if the part fails?
No. Our warranty covers the replacement or refund of the defective engine/transmission only. We do not reimburse for mechanic labor, towing, car rentals, or shop fees under any circumstances.
Product Condition
Are the engines tested?
Yes. All engines undergo visual inspection and compression testing (where applicable) before being listed. Mileage and condition notes are provided on every product page.
What does "Used" condition mean?
"Used" means the engine was previously installed in a vehicle. It may have cosmetic blemishes, oil residue, or missing external accessories (like alternators or power steering pumps). The long block itself is tested and sold as a functioning unit.
